Be Grateful for your Loved Ones

Posted by Didi Gorman on

I woke up with a start.

I just had a dream there was a bus crash.

In my dream my kids were on that bus, and the grief was simply unbearable. So unbearable that it woke me up.

For a few foggy seconds I struggled to find my bearings until I realized this was just a dream.

It was the middle of the night and everything was quiet and peaceful. I could hear the children’s soft breathing in the background, sound asleep in their rooms. Phew... what a relief!

I went back to sleep still shook up, but also immensely relieved.

The next morning I was so overjoyed to see them, they must have thought I was acting a little weird.

I just couldn’t take my eyes off them. I fist-bumped with my teenager, hugged my middle one till she reminded me she needed to go to school, and smooched my youngest on her nose!

I didn’t need that dream to be reminded how wonderful my children are, but this morning their mere presence felt like a precious gift.

If that dream taught me anything, it’s to be profoundly grateful for loved ones.
